Welcome back to school in 2015!
Flu season is upon us. The best defense we have against the flu is washing our hands. Please encourage your child to wash his/her hands frequently.
We need all of our students to stay healthy so they can come to school each day.
Below is a digital copy of our PTA December/January Newsletter. A paper copy was sent home with all students. Please read and enjoy!
Kids are constantly using technology today, but how many are learning how to build it? Every 21st-century student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. The basics help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career.
Edgemont Elementary School will join students all over the world for an Hour of Code during Computer Science Education Week December 8th-12th. Last year, 15 million students tried an Hour of Code in one week. We’re aiming to be part of the 100 million students worldwide to do an Hour of Code by the end of 2014!
What is an Hour of Code? It’s a one-hour activity. Students of all ages can choose from a variety of self-guided tutorials, from Kindergarten on up. Once students see what they create right before their eyes, they’re empowered to keep learning!
We are very excited to participate in this event that motivates students to learn more about computer science. For more information please visit code.org.

Please send in any amount of donated books between December 1st and December 5th to be included in our “Holiday Book Swap”. All students will get a chance to choose two ‘new’ books of their own during the week of December 8th!
The student who brings in the most books by Friday, December 5th will receive a $25 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble bookstore!
